Giridhari lifting Govardhan | AD Golden Painted 7"
When Indra's storms threatened Vrindavan, Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill on one hand and held it for seven days — a shelter for everyone who took refuge in Him. Giridhari, the lifter of the hill, is that promise in form: the Divine protects those He loves.
This murti (sacred statue of the Divine) is hand-cast in ashtadhatu — the traditional eight-metal alloy of Vedic icon-making — and hand-painted by artisans in India. Krishna stands cross-legged on a yellow and pink lotus base, the green-painted Govardhan Hill raised overhead on his left palm. Painted detail runs throughout: a colorful necklace, patterned waist cloth, pearl-style accents, red-tinted hands and feet, and an expressive face with bright eyes and tilak.
With real weight and presence at over three pounds, he makes a natural centerpiece for a home altar — especially cherished for Govardhan Puja and Janmashtami.
